View this terragen render with a smile - I submitted it to the Terracon Clear Water Contest and came joint 11th out of 61 entrants. The peaks in the one I entered had very pointy peaks and brighter than this so I didn't expect that.. the 2 comments I got were really funny :

"Looks like mario bros or something :) (Smile) The water is very nice"

"the colors are, again, beautiful...I love the mountains in the background...very fanciful and gorgeous"

Hopefully, this will give the terragen deviants amongst us little boost, if this can get high up in the ratings, you too have a great chance. ;) (Wink)

This version has been re-rendered, the spiky peaks rounded - albeit a little hehe - and the brightness toned down a little.

Mmmm. I like water! It amazes me how you get the grass & rock to look so real. The two pointy peaks on the upper right looks a little flat to me compared to the rest. Overall a very beautiful piece! Thumbs Up

It might be better without the sharp peaks in the center altogether, and the water color is unusual considering the rocks and that it's in a mountain gap, but whatever plugin you used for the mountains themselves looks good.

The water looks excellent. I also really like the mix of colors you used for the land. Good work.

Wow! That water sure looks realistic. I love it's colouration too.

There are a couple of things I'm not quite sure about, though. First of the grass texture looks a bit to plain in the distance. Second, the clouds in the sky don't look completely 3D (they don't look completely 2D either, but I think you get the point ;) (Wink) ). Anyway, last but not least is the rock outcrop on the left side in the lower part of the image. It looks like it is cut in half by a 2D plain, if you know what I mean. It just stops, it doesn't feel like it has a back side.

These are three minor things though. Overall, this image looks great. I really love the brightness and geology it has. :) (Smile)

water looks great, textures are great, the only thing i would work on is the atmosphere of it and theterrain shapes them selves, other than that cool work

Great water but like you said, the peaks are a bit pointy. Also the grass on the right hills look like they could've used a bit more texture to it. Then again... I'm not better :D (Big Grin)

How did you get the surface map to look so real in the lower lefthand corner? It's a great render.
